The Price Club: Glenn Close

Today we honor actress Glenn Close another member of the Price Club.

This actress born on March 19th 1947, she lived with her family that actually got involved with a cult for a while.  She left the group and went to college where she double majored in theater and anthropology.  Thankfully she choose the career path with more honor and became an actress.  Doing lots of stage work she got into TV in the 80’s and film in the late 80’s.  She has acted alongside very famous actors and actresses, but her place in the Price Club comes from playing Cruella DeVille in the live action film of 101 Dalmatians. She also voice Kala on Tarzan singing “You’ll Be in My Heart.”

The Price Club: Tony Jay

Today we talk about one of the more sinister and dreadfully fun voices of Tony Jay.  Born on February 2nd 1933, Tony Jay mostly did Broadway work, not well known for any screen performances, his later did the voice of Shere Khan in Tale Spin, that led to his role as Monsier D’Arque in Beauty and the Beast, he also did the voice of the Magic Mirror for theme parks and videos, you can hear his voice still in Fantasmic, but most famously he did the voice of Frollo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame that earns him his place in The Price Club.  This British actor died August 13th 2006.

The Price Club: Verna Felton

Today’s actress is Verna Felton.  She earns her membership in The Price Club for voicing to a minor extant, Aunt Sarah from Lady and the Tramp, and majorly for voicing the Queen of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland.

Born July 20th 1890, Verna Felton had an extensive film and radio career that extended for 50 years, among some of her famous voices are Pearl Slaghoople, the mother-in-law of Fred Flintstone, the Fairy Godmother on Cinderella and Flora on Sleeping Beauty.

She died on December 14th 1966 the day before Walt Disney.

The Price Club: Lucille La Verne

Today we talk about the next member of the Price Club, Lucille La Verne.  She got this position by playing the Evil Queen and Old Crone in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Born November 7th 1872, she became an actress and soon found herself in many well renowned acting companies.  In the 1930’s she played the part of the Evil queen and the Old Crone.  In order to get the voice of the Old Crone, she actually took her dentures out to perform the lines.

Lucille died on March 4th 1945.
